How to Wash Thinx An Easy Step-by-step Guide

How to Wash Thinx? An Easy Step-by-step Guide

Generally speaking, there are two ways to wash Thinx: by hand or by machine. Please continue reading for the rules you must abide by.

Thinx manufactures period-appropriate underwear for those who are unfamiliar. If you’re like me, you can use them to completely replace most period care items in your routine or wear them as a backup to tampons. Enter Thinx, which are soft, reusable, incredibly absorbent, and help to make getting your period just a little bit more bearable. And when it’s time to wash them? Well, I’m sharing the steps I take below – caring for your Thinx is super easy, but takes a little extra attention:

Preparation

Things You Should Know

  • Turn your Thinx underwear inside out and rinse them in cool water as soon as you take them off to get the majority of the blood out.
  • Put your Thinx in a lingerie bag and wash them on a cold cycle with a mild detergent when you’re ready to wash them.
  • If you’d like, you can hand-wash your Thinx in a mixture of cool water and a capful of mild detergent.
  • Always hang Thinx to dry; if you put them in the dryer, the heat could harm the fabric.

Rinse the Blood Out After the Use

After taking off the Thinx, immediately rinse them. Even though you don’t have to immediately wash your Thinx with detergent after wearing them, you should always rinse them out. Most of the blood will be expelled with this.

The inside of the pants should be pulled out. Inverting the panties before washing makes it easier to rinse them. This indicates that the area of the pant seat where the blood has accumulated is facing the faucet.

The Thinx should be submerged in cold water. Put the water’s focus on the area of the toilet seat where the blood has accumulated. Given the blood, the water may color pink or brown.

Squeeze out any extra water. The pants shouldn’t be bent or torn. Instead, simply gently crumple the fabric and squeeze. The toilet seat may leak blood. Continue rinsing and squeezing until the water is clear.

Wash right away and hang to dry. Depending on whether you want to wait until laundry day or wash the panty right away after rinsing it, you have two options. Even better, wait to wash all of your Thinx underwear until your period is finished.

The Choice is Yours

It’s as simple to maintain your Thinx as it is to use them. They can be washed by hand or in a washing machine.

Hand Washing

Use room temperature or lukewarm water when hand washing your Thinx. The underwear must first be thoroughly rinsed until the water is clear. After that, scrub them thoroughly with a mild soap. Do not overly wring or twist the clothes; instead, be gentle. Of course, you’ll want to make sure to give them a thorough rinse before hanging them up to dry.

Machine Washing

Wash your Thinx on cold in the washing machine if you prefer. Friendly reminder: Washing your underwear on the delicate cycle will keep them in good condition for several menstrual cycles. Even other types of clothing can be washed on this cycle without any problems.

It’s completely hygienic to wash your Thinx with your other clothes, despite some people’s concerns about stains or safety. Giving your underwear a quick rinse before throwing them in the washer is an option if you’re still concerned about combining all of your laundry. If you choose to do this, make sure they are completely dry before placing them in your hamper.

Handle With Care

Be careful not to dry your Thinx in a dryer. Drying time for your Thinx should be at least a few hours or overnight. The thinner pairs intended for light days may dry faster than the pairs intended for days with heavy flow.

Care for your Thinx just as you would any other bra or set of undergarments. The better you take care of them, the longer they will last for many years to come.

How Long Do They Take to Dry?

Our period underwear dries in a variety of ways depending on the style; under non-humid conditions, moderate absorbency styles should dry in 10–12 hours, and super absorbency styles should dry in 19 hours. Depending on where you hang them up, airflow and humidity levels may influence how quickly they dry. Pro tip: try out our quick-drying Thinx air™️ collection, made from an ultra-thin and lightweight micromesh that’s perfect for exercise, travel, or any other time you need your undies dried fast.

Can I Wash Thinx With My Other Clothes?

It’s completely hygienic and won’t stain your other clothes to wash Thinx with the rest of your laundry; washing machines will almost immediately dilute the blood, and other clothes won’t stain if you wash them on cold. If you’re still worried, you can always give your underwear a quick rinse in cold water after use, let them dry completely, and then put them in the hamper for laundry day.

What If I Accidentally Put Them in the Dryer?

Don’t freak out if your underwear gets accidentally dried. Without losing their integrity, Thinx underwear can withstand one or two tumbles in the dryer. But for the most part, we advise avoiding the dryer to extend their lifespan. The elasticity of the underwear will be compromised by heat from dryers or irons, which is what causes leaks. Transferring to the dryer is a breeze when your Thinx underwear is kept apart from the rest of your clothes in a mesh laundry bag!

Why Shouldn’t I Use Fabric Softener When Washing My Thinx?

Fabric softener should not be used because it destroys the bonding at the seams and the built-in gusset technology. To make fabric feel softer, fabric softener coats the yarns in the fabric. Over time, using fabric softener on our products essentially makes the gusset materials less absorbent and less effective at preventing odors.

What Are These Light Rust-colored Stains in My Underwear?

Believe it or not, your vagina can bleach your underwear! As you may know, the pH of vaginas is naturally acidic, and for some people, this acidity fluctuates to the point where it interacts with the fabric of the underwear, resulting in the bleached spots you may see in your underwear, especially if they have a dark-colored gusset, like Thinx underwear. It’s totally normal!
